A Family Affair Truth in Lies: Book One by Mary Campisi

Hi Book Worms!

I'm slightly addicted to the Truth in Lies Saga right now. Typically murder mystery and suspense books are my go-to; but recently I've been in the mood for something much more lighthearted. I came across Mary Campisi's A Family Affair Truth in Lies: Book One as I was searching for a romance novel in the Amazon Kindle Store. The book was free! For as much as I read, finding a free book is always welcome.

A Family Affair Truth in Lies: Book One is a story of heartache, betrayal, forgiveness, redemption, and of course-- love. The book focuses on Christine Blacksworth who's father is killed in the small New York town of Magdalena a hundred miles from the cabin he visited every month. After his death Christine discovers that her father has a second family in Magdalena. This truth threatens everything she's held to be true about her father. Needing to see the mistress for herself, Christine heads to Magdalena with the intent of burning the woman's image in her head so that every time she starts to forgive her father, she remembers the woman and the hate she has. However, what Christine finds in New York is a woman who understands her, a half sister who cherishes her, and a man who could love her if she'll let him. The more time Christine spends in Magdalena, the more she falls in love with the small town life, her half sister Lily, and Nate Desantro.

Mary Campisi did a phenomenal job pulling the reader into this story. The character development was perfect. I found myself loving Christine and Nate; rooting for Uncle Harry and Greta; loathing Gloria; wanting to share a cup of coffee with Miriam and become friends with Lily. I think these were exactly the feelings Mary Campisi was trying to get across. This story reveals enough family secrets to bring in some drama, while at the same time developing a story of true love-- taking the reader through an emotional roller coaster.

If you're looking for a romance novel, and are willing to get sucked into a saga (right now there are plans for seven books in the saga), I highly recommend A Family Affair Truth in Lies: Book One by Mary Campisi.

I give this book four stars.
