Anyone else notice that it's staying lighter out in the evenings just a tad bit longer? You know what that means-- spring is on the way!
It was actually right around this time last year that we brought home six peeping chicks. I can't believe it's already been a year. Those girls have added so much joy and laughter to our days. Who knew that chickens would make such great pets?

We also started planting seedlings around this time last year. It was our first year doing a garden, and it was so much fun. I'd say that we definitely learned a lot last year and will hopefully have an even better garden this year.
A few weeks ago we ordered a bunch of seeds from Territorial Seed and I've been like a little kid waiting for Santa Claus for the time to come when we plant them. Well, today we planted our first set of seedlings-- tomatoes and peppers. We're planning to wait a few more weeks to plant the broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini.

Last year we used a Jiffy Seed Starter Greenhouse. I really liked it so I purchased replacement peat pellets to use in the greenhouse trays again this year.

I don't know about you, but I am really looking forward to spring when everything comes to life again. Gardening and chicken keeping have been so satisfying over the last year. I love our fresh eggs. And I can't wait to be able to walk out to my backyard and pick vegetables straight from the vine.
