Bulu Box Review

Bulu Box, Review, Sweat Pink, Healthy Living,

Mail Call!

A few weeks ago I received a bright orange box in the mail. I had almost forgot that I was expecting a package. I love getting mail {who doesn't?} and was excited to find that my Bulu Box arrived!

As part of the Sweat Pink community I was given the opportunity to review Bulu Box. In exchange for my review I received a complimentary Bulu Box. As always, opinions are my own.

What's Bulu Box & How Do I Join?

Bulu Box, Review, Sweat Pink, Healthy Living,

The concept of Bulu Box is pretty neat if you ask me. I am so frugal. I hate paying money to try new things just to find out I don't like them. Bulu Box is the perfect way to try new healthy living products without spending a fortune on a full size item until you know you love it.

Of course, if you like a product and want more, Bulu Box has a rewards program. Bulu Box wants to know what you think of each and every product. Complete a short survey. For each product that you survey Bulu Box will give you 10 rewards points. You could gain 50 ($5) or more points each month! Those points can be used towards purchasing full sized products through the Bulu Box website or towards your next months' box. Pretty sweet deal.

Bonus!

If you're unsure about Bulu Box {or subscription boxes in general} you can try Bulu Box for 50% off with the code 'SWEATPINK'. This code applies to the 3-month subscription only.

Surprise in a Box

This was my first experience with Bulu Box and I had no idea what to expect. Unfortunately I heard some not so great opinions before receiving my box. I didn't want to let other opinions influence me so I actually turned off notifications for the Facebook thread!

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my box.

It contained:
- Two packages of Quest Peanut Butter Protein Powder (score!)
- One pouch Citrus Moveit Energy Gummies
- One Sundried Tomato & Basil Mediterra bar
- One small jar of Earth's Care Anti-Itch Cream
- One package Yerba Prima Fiber Plus Powder

I did a short little Periscope when I opened my box :) It was literately my first Scope and it was pretty bad! Apologies to everyone who suffered through it. Speaking of Periscope-- are you on yet? Follow me @amanda__maureen!

The Products

Quest Peanut Butter Protein Powder: Seriously, major score. There were two in my box! I've been wanting to try Quest for awhile now-- I'm still trying to decide which protein powder I prefer. This was the perfect opportunity to try Quest. Peanut Butter probably would not have been my first choice {I'm a chocolate girl all the way} but I was very pleased with my Quest protein smoothie! I drank it after my 16-mile long run and my muscles didn't feel quite so terrible the next day. Actually, I've already ordered Quest Protein Powder in full size :) But in chocolate, of course.

Citrus Moveit Energy Gummies: I was unsure about these as I typically don't consume gels, blocks, or similar products before a workout {they don't always sit well in my tummy}. I tried these before a 6 mile run which took roughly an hour. I was only able to eat about half the packet of gummies before my run. My tummy + food at 4:15am = not friends. The flavor was tasty, but I don't know if I noticed anything different on my run that I can attribute to the gummies.

Sundried Tomato & Basil Mediterra Bar: The description of this bar sounded delicious, but unfortunately I didn't like it. There was nothing specifically wrong with it. I personally just didn't like the taste. It was a little rich for me. I tend to like my nutrition bars on the sweeter side. Nick ended up finishing it off for me. I wasn't able to get a review out of him, but he ate it so it must not have been that bad :)

Earth's Care Anti-Itch Cream: This product was fairly well timed with it being summer. For some reason I tend to attract all the biting insects! The menthol smell of the cream was pretty strong, although I personally like the smell. I tried it on a few of my bites and was itch free for awhile!

Yerba Prima Fiber Plus Powder: I won't lie-- I probably will not be using this product. I'm super iffy about trying anything that messes with my digestion.

The Verdict

I was 50/50 on the products in my Bulu Box that I liked and would use again. It was fun to try new products without the risk of paying for a full sized product. The concept of a subscription box is pretty cool and the cost of Bulu Box is super reasonable. If subscription boxes interests you, ultimately your health, fitness and lifestyle goals should determine what type of subscription box program you join.
