Green Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

I first saw a variation of this smoothie recipe on Instagram by my friend Brittney. Oh my goodness, it was love at first taste. Brittney, you are a genius! 

Of course pumpkin is my favorite, and this healthy smoothie recipe was such a treat. I have been making this smoothie for breakfast most weekday mornings since the beginning of October {pumpkin obsessed much?}. 

This recipe is super simple-- and, of course, you can alter it to fit your tastes. This will give you a base to deviate from if you so choose. Sometimes I'll replace the spinach with half an avocado.

. Vanilla Protein Powder-- Quest {affiliate link} is my protein of choice!
. 1 Banana
. 1/2 cup pure pumpkin
. 4 or 5 shakes of the jar of pumpkin pie spice
. Large handful of spinach or green of your choice
. 4 ounces milk
. Ice {to taste}


Add all ingredients to blender. Blend until smooth. I have a pretty cheap blender that seems to be on it's way out. I try to layer the ingredients to be as kind to the blender as possible. I layer ice, banana, pumpkin, protein powder, spice, spinach and milk. This seems to work well for me.

Ignore the champagne bottle in the background. That probably should not
be added to your smoothie ;-)

What I really love about this smoothie is that it actually keeps me full. I'm a snacker at work. Usually I eat breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack-- you get the jist. Since a protein powder is used in this recipe I stay full a bit longer. It's also sweet so I'm not craving a sweet snack.
