Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Smoothie


I hope you all had a fabulous Valentine's Day! This might be slightly blasphemous-- but Nick and I don't typically celebrate Valentine's Day {gasp!}. I'll take free chocolate any day, but I don't feel like we need a specific day to celebrate love. In fact, Nick spent the weekend skiing with his best friend and I had a girls weekend with my family and a few friends where we went wedding dress shopping {I said YES to the dress, btw!!} and had some Mary Kay pampering. 

BUT! I know a lot of people love Valentine's Day, and I can't pass up on a themed blog post. In honor of yesterday being Valentine's Day here is a yummy chocolate dipped strawberry smoothie recipe!

Ingredients

. Frozen strawberries, 1 cup
. Avocado
. Banana
. Chocolate protein powder, 1 scoop
. Milk, water or juice for the liquid base

Directions

Slice the avocado and banana, and combine with strawberries in a blender. Measure out 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, add to blender with fruit. Add enough milk to obtain your desired smoothie thickness. I generally add 6 - 8 ounces. You can substitute water or juice for the milk. Blend all ingredients. Pour into your favorite glass and top with a fresh strawberry or sprinkle a few chocolate chips and enjoy!

What I love most about this smoothie is how creamy it gets with the addition of the avocado. It seriously tastes more like dessert than a healthy beverage.
